15. My Son’s Tummy

Q.

My youngest son was born premature on the 29th Nov last year and at 6wks the hospital gave him his vaccinations (one being a live oral to prevent gastro). Anyways, the morning after his shots he woke up with a thing called necrotizing enterocolitis or N.E.C for short and had to have parts of his intestine removed due to it becoming gangreeness due to the N.E.C. He had a stoma bag on for a couple weeks while they allowed for his intestine/bowels to heal and relax, then after that he went for a second surgery to have everything reconnected and stoma removed, only in theatre it was discovered his entire large intestine was dead and needed to be removed.

As a result, my once tiny but otherwise completely healthy son now suffers permanent life-long diarrhoea and I can’t even breastfeed due to him not being able to stomach my milk now.

So, my question is should I speak to a lawyer in regards to the hospitals duty of care with his vaccines?

I mean, I know it won’t fix what has happened to my son but if it can stop this happening to others I will do what I can as none of the doctors are willing to admit exactly what or who caused this. I have so many “what if’s” running through my head like: what if they hadn’t left his bowels open for so long before reattaching them, could his large intestine have been saved and what if they hadn’t given his vaccines so early or what if they had allowed me to breastfeed more rather than gavaging formula down him before I had a chance to feed him, would his immune system have been able to cope with the vaccines… Etc..

Just wondering do I have a leg to stand on at all as I feel like my son’s life has been ruined because of this?

Don’t get me wrong this is not about finding someone to blame, I just don’t want anyone to have to go suffer what my son is going through and I feel something needs to be done so that our lives are taken more seriously by these so called “medical professionals”

A part of me feels stupid and ignorant writing this as I’m not the most educated person but just because we are “public health patients” doesn’t mean things should be left to a guinea pig testing attitude of “we’ll just wait and see what happens first before we run more tests to cover other possibilities” because then the damage has been done and it is too late.

Wow, what a disaster, I am so sorry, like really. Your son is still very precious and beautiful I’m sure. Then… urrgh, vaccines, urrgh. Then liability, ugly. It’s shit but doctors are smart and their asses are always covered – unless they’ve operated outside of protocol. And vaccines are very common practice, so likely they’ll just say the problem here was your sons original gut flora or something like that. So legally, I don’t know how far you’d get, but if you feel called to peruse this I’d never say not to.

Also legally, I’d say it’s nearly impossible to prove anything different (even though this may be the case). As in, it’s unlikely they’d be an admission of guilt, but the doctors could just pass the buck onto the vaccine itself. So, before you know it you’ll be shaping up against a multi-billion dollar corporation that makes the vaccines, and bloody hell that’s a whole new shitstorm. As sad as it is, this is the system, and pharmaceutical (vaccine) corporations are big businesses with very powerful lawyers and street cred.

Nevertheless, you’ve touched upon something that confronted me a lot in the earlier days of my journey, I put way too much faith in medical professionals. I think we all do

Anyhow, a few other things…

So, I don’t think your son’s life is ruined, instead both he and you will have to find a way to cope with what sounds like will be ongoing bowel issues. It totally sucks but you don’t really have much choice. Sorry to point out the obvious, which I’m sure you’re already aware of this.

Maybe you could continue to explore opportunities for healing?

But ramblings aside, where I think this is headed or could be (especially as you say you don’t want to see this happen to anybody else), maybe both you and your son could become vaccine awareness campaigners. Read lots, become informed, get passionate, help others. Turn the negative into a positive, like you know this could turn out to be incredibly rewarding.

Not ideal in terms of a life you may have had planned but we’ve all gotta work with what we have. I wish you much luck and that something somehow resolves in your sons tummy.
